02910a4a8292becff8777a6b76d35de8.jpgUnless otherwise specified, a CNC machining part will have an”as-milled” surface finish. However, many parts require additional processing to achieve a desired surface characteristic or property for cosmetic, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, or other purposes. Lisin offers wide variety of surface finishes and treatment to ensure that your parts meet all of their surface property requirements.

Some of the most common surface finishes and treatments here at Lisin are anodizing, polishing, powder coating and acid passivation. Take a look at the images and their descriptions below for more detail on those finishes. If you require a surface finish or treatment that you don’t see here, please reach out to our support team and will be happy to help.

Sanding & polishing: sanding is one of the most common finish for prototyping. Sanding is very basic process to remove cutting marks , in order to get smooth surface. Get ready for further finish such as sandblasted, painted, chromed…Started from rough sand paper, when you reach 2000 sand paper the part surface are smooth enough for high gloss polishing to obtain shiny surface or mirror look, transparent such as light guide, lens.

Whether you are seeking CNC machining services or interested in aerospace machining, we are ready to assist you with anodizing services. The process is called "anodizing" because the part to be treated forms the anode electrode of an electrical circuit. Anodizing increases corrosion resistance and wear resistance, and provides better adhesion for paint primers and glues than bare metal.

Passivation: Passivation is the process of making a material "passive", usually by the deposition of a layer of oxide on its surface. Passivation affects the properties of almost all metals in air. Linsin Science your source for CNC machining and custom machining, is proud to offer exceptional passivation services. In the context of corrosion, passivation is the spontaneous formation of a hard non-reactive surface film that inhibits further corrosion. This layer is usually an oxide or nitride that is a few nanometers thick. In general "passivation" means to make something chemically passive, as opposed to active. An active surface is susceptible to reactions such as corrosion, passive surfaces are resistant to reactions.

Powder coating: Powder coating is a dry finishing process that has become extremely popular, more and more companies specify powder coating for a high quality, durable finish, allowing for maximized production, improved efficiency, and simplified environmental compliance. Used as functional and decorative finishes, powder coatings are available in an almost limitless range of colors and textures, and technological advancements have resulted in excellent performance properties.

Laser Engraving: This is a form of permanent marking, ideal for labelling, branding or schematics. Also known as etching, machined engraving is available with powder coat painting, grained finish, anodizing and chem film chromate coating, depending on the material.
